World Baseball Classic Information
The World Baseball Classic is an international tournament founded by Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association. The first ever Classic was held in March of 2006 after being sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation. It was created in order for professional baseball players to compete internationally, since certain leagues are mid season during the start of the summer Olympic Games. After the 2009 tournament the classic will run every four years.
The WBC is able to truly display the best players from each country to further promote the game of baseball on an international level. In the 2006 classic Japan won the title over Cuba 10-6. Tickets are available for all rounds of the tournament. The final rounds will take place in San Diego and Los Angeles, California. Other rounds will be in Miami Florida. Also look for exhibition games, as Countries look to take on MLB teams such as the Braves, Phillies, and Cardinals.
