Stone Temple Pilots Information

Stone Temple Pilots, a Grammy Award-winning American Rock band, consists of Scott Weiland on vocals, brothers Robert DeLeo and Dean DeLeo on bass and guitar and Eric Kretz on percussion. The band was originally active from 1986 to 2003, but recently reunited in 2008. The band’s five studio albums have sold over 17 million copies in the United States alone, with fifteen top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, six number one hits and one number one album on the pop charts (Purple, 1994). In 1993, the band won a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance” for their most successful song to date, “Plush” and ranked at number 40 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

In 2003, the band released the greatest hits compilation Thank You and band members began going their separate ways- Weiland becoming the frontman of Velvet Revolver, the DeLeo brothers forming the band Army of Anyone and Kretz founding Bomb Shelter Studios in LA. The band then reunited in 2008 after Weiland split from Velvet Revolver, and kicked off a tour at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH. The tour was temporarily postponed to begin recording their sixth studio album in November. The new self-titled album hit shelves in May and is currently being followed up by a tour that launches next week and runs through mid October. STP will be in Boston on September 1st at the Bank of America Pavilion.
