The Ohio State Buckeyes field 39 total sports teams that compete in the NCAA division 1 Big Ten conference. The university is widely known for its athletic program, as it is just one out of four schools to have won an NCAA National championship in baseball, basketball, and football. Ohio State has also won National championships in men's swimming & diving, men's outdoor track & field, men's golf, men's gymnastics, men's fencing, co-ed fencing, and synchronized swimming.
Their football program has shown as most popular since Ohio State started fielding athletic teams. They have won the National title seven times (their last in 2002) and over the years have earned 41 conference championships. The basketball team recently proved themselves successful after taking home the NIT championship in 2008.
