Marshall Thundering Herd Information
The Thundering Herd represent Marshall Universityâ€™s 15 athletic programs that compete in the NCAA Division 1 Conference USA. The school mostly showcases their events at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, Cam Henderson Center, and Appalachian Power Park. Most well known sports include football, basketball, baseball, and golf.
The Thundering Herd football team has won eleven Conference titles and two National championships. They have been widely recognized since coming back from the 1970 tragedy, when a plane crash killed all 75 passengers with 37 Marshall football members on board. The Thundering Herd has raised successful NFL players such as Chad Pennington, Troy Brown, Randy Moss, Byron Leftwich, Chris Crocker, Steve Sciullo, and many more.
