Houston Astros Information

The Houston Astros organization first entered Major League Baseball as the Colt .45s in 1962. They changed their name to the Astros in 1965 after relocating to their famous indoor facility, the Astrodome. The Astros currently compete in the NL Central. From 1997-2001 they were able to claim the Division four times. 2005 marked their first ever trip to the World Series, where they eventually fell short to the Chicago White Sox in four games.

The 2009 Astros finished the regular season at 74-88. In 2010, they placed fourth with a slightly improved 76-86 record, but in 2011 finished last with a dismal 56-106 record. The 2012 Astros are looking forward to rebuilding the team. In 2013, they are set to leave the crowded NL Central and join the AL West. They have a new owner in Jim Crane and a host of young players and prospects who they are hoping could catapult the Astros to the top in the next couple of years.
