Futures at Fenway Information
Boston Red Sox minor-league affiliates play regular season games, but rather than at their usual home ballparks, they play at Fenway Park. First suggested by Mayor Thomas M. Mennino, it’s a perfect way to take advantage of Fenway’s availability during away games, spark fans’ interest in minor-league games, and show off special rising talent.
"Events like Futures at Fenway reflect the team's commitment to creating opportunities for more fans to experience America's Most Beloved Ballpark," said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino.
Besides being a baseball-filled day and a chance to see minor leaguers at Fenway, Futures at Fenway provides an interactive fan experience that differs from regular major league games. Afternoon on-field activities include mascots races, autograph sessions with the stars from both games and is full of fun for the whole family.
The seventh annual Futures at Fenway will take place August 18, 2012. A affiliate the Lowell Spinners (BOS) will take on the Hudson Valley Renegades (TB) at 1:05 p.m. AAA team Pawtucket Red Sox plays the Buffalo Bisons (NYM) for the second game. Prospects to watch include the Spinners’ pitcher Matt Barnes and Pawtucket players such as third baseman Will Middlebrooks, catcher Ryan Lavarnway, and first baseman Lars Anderson.
