311 Information

American rock band 311 is composed of Nick Hexum, S.A. Martinez, P-Nut, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton. They got their start in 1988 and throughout their career, have 12 studio albums, one live album, four compilation albums, and four video albums.

In 1989, 311 began performing in Hexum’s basement. There first two albums, Dammit! and Unity, came out in 1990 and 1991 on the independent label, What Have You. They signed with Capricorn Records in 1992 after moving to California and released their debut album, Music, in 1993. They found minor success with their single, “Do You Right,” and their second album, Grassroots, charted at #193 on the Billboard 200 chart.

As they continued touring and performing at different venues, the 1995 release of their self-titled album was their breakout hit, reaching #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. 1997’s Transistor debuted at #4 and they continued to be successful throughout the late 90’s and early 00’s.

In 2000, the band deemed March 11, 311 Day, where the band and its fans go to New Orleans for a special concert. They continued to tour and release albums, but took a break in 2006. Regrouping in 2007, they went on their Summer Unity Tour and released a new album, Uplifter, in 2009.

311’s latest album, Universal Pulse, came out in 2011. That year, they hosted the Pow Wow Festival at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park. They announced the 311 Unity Tour, Summer 2012 that will kick off July 4 at a venue TBA and will continue on across the U.S.
